Time and Tide

Recently my writing has slowed way down due to work obligations. I was doing 12 hour shifts along with 3 hours of travelling making it a pretty long day! I was only doing that 3 times a week but due to staff shortages it got more and more until I felt like I was barely at home. So, you can imagine how tired I was! : )

But now I have a job in my home town so my travelling has been cut down to a 15 minute walk! Happy dance! Which means I have more time to write so will get my next novella out in the next month or so. Now I’m off to get some writing done! : )

Sales, new job and writing plans!

Checking my sales and Blood Mate seems to be ticking away nicely. Not bad since I haven’t really done any promotion yet! So, thanks to everyone who has bought it – I truly appreciate you taking a chance on me! : )

This has been a hectic month as I’ve started a new job that entails 12 hour shifts so I’m pretty tired right now but I’m getting used to it and working out time management plans – that sounds so grown up! : )

I’ve started a new novella but I’m also thinking of doing more with the world I created in Blood Mate. It was only supposed to be a short and sweet novella but I think I put a lot in that could be expanded upon so I’m jotting down notes as to what I can do to round out everything. Always have something to work on that’s the key!

Hope everyone is staying well! Bye for now!

Finally, it’s here!

Blood Mate is finally up for sale! I’m still loving that cover and I hope to work with that same lady again sometime soon. I would love it if you could support me and let me know what you think!

I have the next one all outlined and ready to be written. Had to take a break from writing to find a new job which I’m starting today, it’s totally different from anything I’ve done before so I’m excited and nervous at the same time! : ) This year has started off well and I hope it continues!

November madness done!

Yes, I finished Nanowrimo! It’s absolute rubbish and will probably go in the drawer until after Christmas then I’ll probably take it back out and see what can be salvaged. It might seem a waste of time sometimes but I enjoy the challenge and it does give you the bare bones of a story – and some of it can be surprisingly good when you look with a fresh eye! : )

Blood Mate is still being edited and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there is no big plot holes or other mistakes in it. I’m finishing off other work (bill paying work) and then I can get started on the next novella I’ve been plotting out. I’m quite excited about this one and hope I can do it justice!

Book cover and November madness!

This is the book cover I commissioned from For The Muse Designs. A lovely lady to deal with and very reasonable prices! I’m very pleased with the result.

While this is getting sent off to the editor I’m going straight into the next project and to add a little fun to it I’m going to write it during Nanowrimo. What’s that you ask? Well, it’s when mad writers around the world decide to write 50,000 words in one month! I’ve done it before and find that I start off all excited and then halfway through the month I run out of steam and start procrastinating. I have a word count metre to the right there so you can see how well (or not!) I’m doing! : )

Did I say Halloween? I think I was being a bit optimistic! I forgot to factor in how long editing takes as well, particularly when it’s being sent out to somebody else to do. I want to make sure it’s the best it can be and that means not being in too much of a hurry to get it out there!

I’ve contacted someone to get the cover done for me and I should hopefully have something to show by the end of the month. I was having such a hard time finding a male asian model for it that I’ve just left it to the professionals and she’s found one that is almost perfect!

Next post I’ll hopefully have a little teaser to put up! : )

Book cover woes!

It’s an interesting matter that I’ve happened upon. I realised that perhaps writing about a japanese hero was not exactly common, especially in english language novels, but when it comes to finding an image to use for my cover I’ve realised just how uncommon it obviously is. I can’t find a copyright free image of a sexy asian man anywhere! Wtf? Now, I know what you’re going to say, that there’s lots of pictures on the internet but unfortunately these are not copyright free or I would have lots to choose from! *sigh* There are a couple of great artists on deviantart that I would love to commission to do a cover for me but I fear they are out of my price range!

As I was looking around for an appropriate image I came upon this blog post by Jeannie Lin, one of my favourite authors at the moment. It brings up an interesting question and one I honestly hadn’t thought of before. The comments as well bring up a couple of good points about the topic – worth a read!

Introduction and other stuff!

This is the first post of my new blog and I thought i would introduce myself to anyone that might stumble upon it. Anyway, my name is Lily and I enjoy writing genre romance with a twist of erotica to add a little spiciness to the sugar! My first novella is a japanese vampire story that at the moment has no working title but will be out on Halloween. Perfect for a vampire story I thought! : )

I have a series of novellas planned and I hope that any readers who like my work will continue to support me for a long time. I will mostly be doing stand alone novellas but once in a while if the characters touch my readers enough or if I feel that their story won’t simply be told in one go I will do a series!

So please enjoy my work, support me and don’t forget to let me know what you think! : )
